I speak four languages fluently, so I'm glad you asked this.
Remember, procedures are all the practical techniques that speed up your mastery of the skill.
To master German to a basic level in a few months, follow these steps:
- Switch all your audio interactions (music, podcasts, movies, songs, etc.) to German.
- Speak it! Get a native speaker and talk to them in German. No friends who speak German? No problem. Get one of those apps that connects you to native speakers through video calls. Do this three times a week.
- Read the most famous German newspaper in German. Ideally from cover to cover.
The key is to absorb the languages with your senses daily: hearing, speaking, reading.
This will be extremely uncomfortable. But hey, if you are really serious about it, then you must get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Follow my steps, and you will baffle your family and friends.
Don't translate too much to your native language. Learn from the context: make gestures to your German interlocuter and ask how to say "I want coffee, I am happy, I want to buy bus tickets, etc." Talk to them as if you don't speak any language and force yourself to only answer back in German even if you cannot. They will guide you and make you repeat the words and sentences: "tea, coffee, I want to go to bed, can I have the spoon, etc."
This way, your brain will build a strong memory to speed up learning.
I hope this help. Let me know if you need any more advice.
